Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour; screenings/research, 11 hours. Requisites: courses 31A, 31B, 31C. Overview of premodern, modern, and postmodern theory as reflected in critical writing and artistic frameworks from late 19th century to present. Introduction to elements of Marxism, critical theory, feminist and queer theory, indigenous critique, disability studies, black radical tradition, decolonial and postcolonial writings. Specific topics may vary. May be repeated for maximum of 20 units. Letter grading.
