Seminar, three hours. Preparation: reading knowledge of at least one East Asian language. Critical issues common to literary historiography in East Asia, including periodization, canon, ideology, interaction between high and low culture, written and oral, etc. In Progress grading (credit to be given only on completion of course 240B).
