Lecture, four hours; outside study, eight hours. Students are exposed to the foundations of smart infrastructure, which include the working principles of sensors such as accelerometers, strain gauges, cameras, and data processing methods. Topics include basic foundations of signal (1D) and image (2D) processing, experimental/operational modal analysis of structures, structural health monitoring from visual sensors, and computer vision applications for the assessment of engineered infrastructure. May be repeated once for credit. Letter grading.
