Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour. Introduction to principles and practices of community-engaged research with emphasis on collaborative, asset-based approaches that build on community strengths. Emphasis on developing practical skills in ethical research, community needs assessment, capacity building, and program development through partnerships with local organizations. Topics include ethical considerations, sustainable change, and role of community partnerships in addressing public health challenges. P/NP or letter grading.
