Studio, six hours. Requisites: courses 25, 101 or 104. Investigation of ecological art practices grounded in environmental justice. Research of Southern California ecologies with historical and ongoing issues of environmental injustice. Students investigate environmental wrong-doings of the region, critically and creatively implement community-based design methods, do site visits, and engage with the natural environment by conducting fieldwork to develop research-based interdisciplinary design and art projects using a wide range of media, grounded in storytelling and place-based artistic fieldwork practices. Prior knowledge of ecology or environmental justice not required. Letter grading.
