Exploration of intersection of hip-hop culture, sport, and education; and how hip-hop culture serves as instrument of critical and culturally relevant pedagogy in K-12 education, higher education, and informal learning contexts. Exploration of development and rise of hip-hop from underground movement to dominant, cultural phenomenon; and its appropriation by prominent sports personalities. Exploration of hip-hop's connection to television, social media, fashion, art, and film. Exploration of how this cultural art form intersects with development of social identities and cultural learnings in traditional and nontraditional educational settings (e.g., public schools, private schools, charter schools, and home schooling); and its enormous educational impact in general. Exploration of potential of hip-hop music and its cultural art form for furthering culturally relevant pedagogies and learning experiences. Letter grading.
