Lecture, three hours. Examination of environmental justice (EJ) as a term describing the right of racialized and low-income communities to be protected from disproportionate exposure to hazards. Discussion of spread of EJ concerns, including climate justice, and EJ advocacy expansion to envisioning and building new socioecological relations. Exploration of complex intersections-including race, indigeneity, class, gender, sexuality, disability, and nation-as interlocking positions that shape vulnerabilities to environmental harm as well as the emergence of multispecies relations as an EJ concern.
