Description

(Same as Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences M210.) Lecture, three hours. Recommended: Physics 1C. Planetary atmospheric structure and composition, radiative transfer, and climate dynamics. Topics include origin and evolution of atmospheres, paleoclimate of Earth and Mars, atmospheric thermodynamics, plane-parallel radiative transfer, climate dynamics, climate forcings/feedbacks, bifurcation, and climate hysteresis. S/U or letter grading.
