Description

(Same as African American Studies M109, Gender Studies M109, and Global Jazz Studies M109.) Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour. Examination of the intersectionality of race, gender, class, sexuality, age, disability, positionality, and gendered notions about improvisation, instrumental/vocal performance, and composition and their impact on the historical development of jazz. P/NP or letter grading.
