Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Designed for juniors/seniors. Major episodes in social, trade union, and cultural history of American working class from Colonial times to present, with emphasis on both organized and unorganized labor, history of Knights of Labor, AFL-CIO, and development of labor politics. P/NP or letter grading.
