(Same as Religion M106A.) Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Designed for juniors/seniors. Examination of early development of Islam with special attention to doctrine of nature of God, human responsibility, guidance, revelation and religious authority, duties of believers, ritual, law, sectarian movements, mysticism, and popular religion. P/NP or letter grading.
