Moving Image Media and Technologies

Description

Seminar, three and one half hours. Introduction to principle types of media and methodologies used for moving image archival handling, conservation, preservation, and restoration. Special focus includes non-mainstream, non-Hollywood materials (small-gauge formats, independent and amateur productions, new media); changing role of technology in preservation and restoration; ethical changes of moving image restoration; and classical and contemporary models of working with audiovisual materials found in every collection. S/U or letter grading.
