Lecture, three hours. Production of creative writing within a social justice framework. Exploration of each aspect of the creative process, from inspiration to final revision. Students come with a rough draft, notes, or an idea in any genre including memoir/autobiography, creative nonfiction, reportage, fiction, essay, or poetry. With this draft or idea, students engage in peer review, reader response, readings and discussions about craft, and other forms of interaction designed to aid composition and revision. Readings consist of literature, writing about craft, and peer drafts. Students have opportunity to submit work to an outside collection or journal. P/NP or letter grading.
