Seminar, two hours; fieldwork (classroom observation and participation), two hours. Facilitates development of professional mathematical and pedagogical understandings required to teach California's K-5 mathematics curriculum. Exploration of K-5 mathematics, practice of effective teaching strategies for all learners, and discussion of current research and standards in mathematics education. Fieldwork in local mathematics classrooms (observation and presentation of lesson plan) arranged by Cal Teach program. P/NP or letter grading.
