Lecture, three hours; clinical, three hours. Theoretical content focuses on population-based approach to public health nursing in relation to health promotion and disease prevention at level of individuals, families, communities, and systems. Designed for health workers licensed as licensed practical nurses, licensed vocational nurses, and registered nurses holding Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing and licensed as registered nurse. Clinical practicum concentrates on population-based public health nursing in culturally diverse settings including health departments, health policy institutions, and public service agencies. Clinical practicum activities include health promotion and disease prevention at level of communities, populations, and systems, both domestically and globally. Letter grading.
