Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Requisites: Life Sciences 1, 2, 3, and 23L, or 7A, 7B, 7C, and 23L. Physiological response and function at molecular, cellular, system, and whole organism levels of variety of animals to range of environmental conditions. Major topics include neural and muscular structure and function, hormones, gas exchange, energetics, and thermoregulation. Examination of wide variety of vertebrates and invertebrates to understand how animals solve physiological challenges presented by physical environment. Letter grading.
