Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Requisites: courses 403, 413. Limited to Master of Applied Statistics students. Exploration of fundamental concepts in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Overview of the machine learning pipeline and discrete classification techniques such as logistic regression. Investigation of advanced topics including linear models, regularization, hyperparameter tuning, clustering, principal component analysis (PCA), and reinforcement learning. Letter grading.
