Preparation for the Major
Complete the Life Sciences Core Curriculum in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics. Each core curriculum course must be passed with a grade of C– or better, and all courses must be completed with an overall grade-point average of 2.0 or better.

The Major
Complete five required courses, one laboratory course, and 20 upper-division elective units. Students must receive a C or better grade in each required core course and achieve a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in the major.
Honors Program
The honors program is optional and for exceptional junior and senior majors with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better and a 3.5 GPA or better in major courses. To graduate with honors, students must complete all requirements for the honors program and the major with at least an overall 3.0 GPA and a 3.5 GPA in major coursework.
Honors Program Requirements
The core of the program consists of at least one approved undergraduate seminar course and three research courses (12 units minimum) culminating in a thesis.

Computing Specialization
This specialization is optional. Majors must satisfy all degree requirements and complete the following courses with a grade of C or better and a combined GPA of at least 2.0. Students must petition for admission to the program after completing Program in Computing 10B.
