Russian Studies BA

The major in Russian Studies is designed for students who wish to complement mastery of the language with an array of courses on Russian history, politics, literature, and culture. The Russian Studies major is a designated capstone major. Students must complete a capstone seminar and present their final paper in the department's annual Undergraduate Research Conference. Students draw on their previously acquired subject matter knowledge and skills to plan a research project and write a substantial academic paper.

Students must complete either the standard capstone sequence or, if eligible, the honors program sequence. The honors program is for exceptional majors and requires a separate application.

For exceptional majors who wish to complete a research project culminating in an honors thesis. Admission requires a 3.5 GPA in upper-division major courses, a 3.0 overall GPA, and a pre-approved project proposal. The courses must be taken during senior year.
